The Nation of Turkey
The role of Togarmah
The role Togarmah in the final battle is that of a supporting nation to Gog. It will accompany Gog down to Israel to fight with Israel. Refer to Ezekiel 38:1-7.
Who is Togarmah? In relation to Togarmah, Josephus suggests the 'Greeks called them the Phrygians'. Antiquities1:6:1. Phygia is in modern Turkey. Dr Joseph Wolff, in "Travels and Adventures" met a people in Turkey who called themselves the 'Children of Togarmah'. Therefore it would be seen that Togarmah can be aligned with the nation of Turkey.
Country Overview Once the centre of the Ottoman Empire, the modern secular republic was established in the 1920's by nationalist leader Kemal Ataturk. Straddling the continents of Europe and Asia, Turkey's strategic location has given it major influence in the region - and control over the entrance to the Black Sea. Turkey's powerful military - which has traditionally seen itself as the guardian of the secular system - has a long history of involvement in politics. The country has long been at odds with its close neighbour, Greece, over territorial disputes in the Aegean and the divided island of Cyprus.
